The Assistant National Secretary General of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Ibrahim Abdullahi has said the existence of porous borders in the country is being responsible for the incessant herdsmen crisis in some parts of the country.
He made this known in a Press Conference in Kaduna state Saturday over the alleged killing of four Fulani herdsmen by Adara and Gbagyi youths in Tsoho Damishi community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
Abdullahi said the porousness of Nigerian boarders are responsible for all manners of Trans – fulani Humans influx into the country.
“The major problem here is the porousness of Nigerian boarders that has allowed all manner of foreigners especially the Trans Fulani Humans to come into the country without been checked.
” They came with about 50 cows into the country and when going they go with thousands of cows rustled from the indigenous Fulanis.
‘Our boarder accepts anything, these people can enter with all manner of dangerous weapons and when they commit any atrocity people will descend the indigenous fulanis. The truth is that they are our common enemies.
‘One of the ways to solve this problem is for the Federal Government of Nigeria to revisit the ECOWAS Protocol order as its affects Transhuman Fulani.
‘We have also decided to to take inventory of any foreigner that comes into our community, I believe that through that way the suspicion between us in Southern Kaduna and other parts of Nigeria will be eliminated, ” he said
On the recent killings in Tsoho Damishi, Mallam Ibrahim Abdullahi said the killings followed a kidnap incident which all parties, Fulani, Gbagyi and Adara were victims.
“As soon as the kidnapping incident was over, some Gbagyi and Adara Youths decided to attack the nearest nomadic settlements who were also victims of the incident. In fact, one of the Fulanis killed had his brother and sister kidnapped,” he said.
