FG Pays Tribute As Igwe Ekweremadu Is Laid To Rest

The Federal government has described the late Igwe Mathias Chwuemeka Ekweremadu as a man to be remembered for his life of selfless service to humanity.President Godluck Jonathan made this statement at the funeral service of the late royal father which held at Mpu autonomous community in Enugu state.

The president, who spoke through the vice president Mohammed Namadi Sambo, described the Okwaa Anekeoji I of Mpe, Igwe Mathias Chukwuemeka Ekweremadu, as an embodiment of justice, equity and benevolence bearing the testimonies that continued flow since his death. He stated that the late Igwe was a man to be remembered for his contributions to the improvement of lives of his people  which were unquantifiable even before he ascended the throne,.

Arc Sambo, who led the Federal Government delegation to the funeral service expressed as sad and painful the death of the late patriarch as his family, his community and the nation at large would surely miss his invaluable experience, wisdom and wise counsel.

The vice president noted that however, the late Chukwuemeka Ekweremadu lived to a ripe age and was able to raise a generation of Nigerians Imbued with a high sense of discipline, morality, humility and other great leadership attributes to continue with his legacy.

“He will be particularly remembered for bequeathing an invaluable legacy in the person of the Deputy President of the Senate, His Excellency Senator Ike Ekweremadu in whom Nigerians have seen those great virtues that stood Igwe Ekweremadu out.” Said the president.

The federal government condoled the family for losing a worthy father, the people of Mpu community for losing a leader and a sage; Enugu State and the nation in general and prayed for the repose of his soul.

Also speaking, the senate president David Mark extolled the good virtues of the late Igwe who has led an exemplary. He described the royal father as a good man and a good product and that a good man comes from a good man so also a good product comes from a good product. He urged the children he left behind to continue to emulate all the good things and legacies he has left for them.

Speaking earlier, the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria Ola Makinde described the late Igwe as a dedicated father and a pious man whose immense contribution to the spread of his religion are innumerable. The Prelate authorized the renaming of the Methodist Church under construction in the community in memory of the late Royal father in recognition of his unwavering dedication and service to the church.

Arc Sambo was accompanied by the PDP National Chairman Bamanga Tukur, secretary to the Federal Government of the Federation Pius Anyim Pius and other top government functionaries.
