Nigeria has approved two private universities for Delta and Imo states. The new varsities are Edwin Clark University to be located in Delta state and Hezekiah University which will be based in Umudi ,Imo State.
Senator Patricia Akwashiki ,the minister of Information said the new universities will address the inadequate access to university education and enrolment of students in the country.
Justifying the approval, Ibrahim Shekarau , minister of education who was said to have presented the memo on the new varsities to the Federal Executive Council ,FEC said they were necessary to meet the yearning of over 160millionNigerians for education
Also,the regulatory body, the National Universities Commission (NUC) also noted the two universities deserved the approval
