A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced a 26-year-old ex-convict, Moses Christian, to 10 months imprison for stealing car parts worth N315,000.
Christian, who resides in Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna, was charged for trespass and theft to which he pleaded guilty.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel sentenced the convict to 10 months imprison without an option of fine.
Emmanuel said that the convict had previously been arraigned and sentenced to five months imprison by him on another charge of theft sometimes in Oct. 2021.
“Having considered the facts of this case, and that Christian is not a first time offender, I hereby sentence him to 10 months in prison,” he said.
The magistrate warned the convict to desist from the life of crime as the court would not take it likely with him next time.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo told the court that Christian committed the offence on Feb. 15 at a home on Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna.
Leo said the convict trespassed into the home of one Francis Simon while he was away with his family and stole the engine, battery, two tyres, the brain box to Simon’s Toyota Corolla car, all valued at N315,000
He said Christian carted away the item in a tricycle but he was caught by a neighbour’s security guard.
Leo said the offence contravened sections 254 and 271 of the Penal Code, Kaduna State, 2017. (NAN)
