Elections: INEC engages 60,436 ad-hoc staff in Lagos

#TrackNigeria: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State says it has engaged the services of no fewer than 60,436 electoral officers for the upcoming general elections.

INEC Spokesman, Femi Akinbiyi said on Monday that the electoral officers included 2,415 additional assistant presiding officers who would be on standby for exigencies during the Feb. 16 and March 2 elections.

He said that the number comprises 68 returning officers, 346 collation officers, 846 supervisory presiding officers, 8,464 presiding officers, 48,297 assistant presiding officers.

Akinbiyi said that all the electoral officials had been trained, urging them to be meticulous and be good ambassadors of the commission.

He said all officials must be professional in the discharge of their duties on election days and must be impartial, unbiased, transparent and gender sensitive. (NAN)
