#TrackNigeria: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate, for Kaduna State in the March 9, 2019 polls, Isa Ashiru, says the Northern Senatorial District would improve on the Party’s dismal outing in the Feb. 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Ashiru spoke at a meeting with some 1,000 members of Youth and Women Support Groups at the Arewa House, Kaduna, ahead of the March 9 rescheduled Governorship and State Assembly elections.
The PDP Candidate had lost Kudan, his local government area, to the ruling APC in the just concluded Feb.23 Presidential and National Assembly polls.
The All Progressives Party (APC) had won with a wide margin of 30, 577 votes against the PDP that scored 11,692 votes during the polls.
Sen Ahmed Makarfi, former National Chairman of the PDP also lost Makarfi Local government are to the APC in the Presidentail polls, where the ruling party scored 36,624 votes, while PDP got 14,494 votes.
The APC had won the Senate Seat and all the six House Representatives Seats in the Zone.
The APC Candidate and former Commissioner for Finance in the State, Suleiman Abdu defeated Suleiman Hunkuyi of the PDP with 411,498 votes against 181,955 votes.
The APC won all the six House of Representatives Seats in the Kaduna Northern Zone which include; Kudan/Makarfi, Zaria, Sabon Gari, Soba, Lere, Ikara/Kubau during the polls.
Hower, even with the heavy loss at the poll, the Governorship candidate said the zone would collaborate with the Kaduna South Senatorial zone to defeat the Gov Nasiru El-Rufai in the March 9 polls.
According to him, “the North Senatorial will not disappoint their Southern Kaduna counterparts in delivering bloc votes for the party during the March 9 gubernatorial polls.
“We have disappointed our brothers and sisters from Zone 3, it was not deliberate, we discovered issues and we have taken measures to address the issue.
“We are doing whatever is humanly possible to deliver our zone during the Govership and State Assembly elections.
“By the special grace of God, we will edge them out on march 9 by doubling our efforts,“ he said.
On why the PDP lost the zone, Ashiru said “the conduct of the presidential and National Assembly polls, at the initial stage was free fair and credible but along the line things changed”.
The PDP won the senate seat and all the House of Representatives seats in the Southern Senatorial District of the state.(NAN)
