El-Rufai Consoles Families Over Birnin Gwari Killings

Nasir-ElRufai.jpg 600Kaduna state governor-elect, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai  has condoled the families of the 20 persons killed on Wednesday in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.

The governor-elect condemned the killings, and called for urgent action by the security forces to stem acts of banditry and terror in the area. His spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan disclosed this in a statement issued in Kaduna.

Aruwan said “The governor-elect received with sadness news of the killing of about 20 persons and the destruction of homes in a village located in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.

“It is barbaric and inhuman. It is unfortunate that innocent Nigerians will be brutally killed in their sleep.

“The governor-elect therefore condoles the affected  families and the entire community over this unfortunate act. He prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

“He also charged security agencies to redouble their efforts in ensuring maximum security in the state.”

It would be recalled that a gang of thieves on Wednesday morning shot dead at least 20 people and set houses on fire in Gworon Dutse village in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.

The thieves, according to reports were said to have stormed the village in the early hours of the day morning.

Another version has it that the armed thieves were in the village on a revenge mission, following killing of their two colleagues previously.
