Mrs Monisola Oloro, Chairman, Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA), has lauded Gov. Kayode Fayemi for ensuring the state keyed into the national programme of Primary Health Care Under One Roof with the release of no fewer than 4,000 staff of Primary Health Care (PHC) to PHCDA.

Oloro, represented by the Permanent Secretary of PHCDA, Mrs Olabisi Arogundade, gave the commendation in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday during the official takeover of files of PHC staff by the Agency.

She said the step was crucial in making the National Policy on Primary Health Care Under One Roof successful.

She added that the PHCDA was also acting in consonance with Fayemi’s vision to ensure access to basic health care services in the state was well managed and better coordinated.

Oloro assured the Local Government Service Commission that the interest and welfare of the workers that had just been taken over by PHCDA would be adequately protected as all necessary arrangements to that effect had been made.

Earlier, Chairman of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr Adewumi Abejide, urged the agency to prioritise the welfare of about 4,000 PHC officers that had been moved from the commission to PHCDA.

He said the arrangement became necessary because of the national policy which stipulated that primary health care workers must be under one roof and which Ekiti had keyed into.

The chairman called for regular interactive sessions between the PHCDA and the commission to speed up the implementation of the policy.

He applauded the Ekiti governor for his vision to ensure that good healthcare services got to all and sundry in the state. (NAN)
