#TrackNigeria: Domestic Observer Groups of the 2019 general elections in Niger state has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful and transparent electoral process.
The group also commended the people in the state for having faith in the electoral process and bod and for accepting the results announced by INEC.
According to them, the maturity, understanding and conduct of the people in the state made the elections to be free, fair and credible and made the results to be accepted without any rancour.
Speaking on the election to newsmen in Minna, the Team Leader, Comrade Abdullahi Jabi noted that vote buying was prevalent among politicians and political party candidates while there were no underage voters.
The Group also commended the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Samuel Egwu on the preparation and management of the electoral process and procedures.
“There was zero tolerance to violence and electoral malpractices were not recorded or witnessed in the entire polling units visited by Observer teams during the elections.
“Our group also noticed that there were no cases of under aged voters in all the polling units we visited. We were highly impressed with the conduct of INEC officials during the elections.”
The Group then suggested the use of modified electronic device technology in other elections to save time in the collation of election results.
“Collation of results is still a big challenge in our electoral process, we therefore suggest the use of modified electronic device technology to fast track the process of collation of election result to save time and man hour wasted during collation exercise manually.
“Electronically introduced collation machine have the capacity of improving the integrity and accurate result of collation exercise. ”
The Group then congratulated the Governor Elect, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello over his re-election urging him to increase the stride in increasing the economy and development in the state.
