DEPOWA warns youths against illicit use of drugs

The Defense and Police officers Wives Association DEPOWA has warned Nigerian youths against illicit use of drugs and it effect on youths and national development.

The president of DEPOWA, who is also the wife of the Chief of Defense staff Mrs Omobolanle Olanisakin stated this at the DEPOWA Week 2019 in Abuja Monday.

According to her, DEPOWA’s goal is to train young ones and build educational institutions whose product would be able to rub shoulders with there counterpart all over the world.

“In the past few decades, we have witnessed considerable erosion of our value and cultures through exposure to foreign values that are alien to our culture, consequently, issues like drug abuse, rape, marital issues all other forms of violence and as such all this act are bad for young ones and unhealthy to national development,” she said.

The seminar she said, is “to teach school children on drug and substance abuse and the effect it has on young brains, how to proffer solutions and protect young ones and the larger society from dangerous development.”

She enjoined all to inculcate rich values of honesty, transparency and dedication in young ones that were being prepared for future leadership roles.
