DAILY POST at 10: Media, journalists must be fair in reportage – Yushau Shuaib
A media professional, Yushau Shuaib, has charged media houses in Nigeria to be independent and neutral.
Shuaib was the Guest Speaker at the DAILY POST 10th Anniversary and Awards night held in Abuja at the weekend.
The PRNigeria Publisher also urged journalists to ensure fair and balanced reportage at all times.
He said, “The stories we report, are they accurate? Before publishing, do we ensure the stories are properly investigated?
”We should always report the facts”, he maintained.
“The challenge we have today is glaring. Most of us here would agree that we have found ourselves in one of the most difficult situations.
“With all that is going on in Nigeria, we all have roles to play toward the country’s growth, peace and security”, Shuaib added.
Media experts and other guests hailed the publisher of DAILY POST, James Bamisaye and members of staff for their hard work, which has spanned 10 years.
Meanwhile, staff who have served the organization in its 10 years of operations were recognised by the management.
Ali Adoyi, Ifreke Inyang, Comrade Ameh, Yemi Adebayo were recognised for their one decade of service to the company.
Another category of awards saw Wale Odunsi named the Content writer of the year while Sikiru Obarayese picked up the award for Reporter of the year.
Kayode Oyeniran was specially recognised as the Salesman of the year for the organization.
In attendance at the award event were Aida Ogwuche, who represented the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, Osita Okechukwu, Director-General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Omoniyi Ibietan, Director Online Media, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC); Emmanuel Ogbeche, FCT Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), among others.
According to Alexa, the famous websites ranking platform, DAILY POST is the second most-read online newspaper in Nigeria.
The medium has over the years won different awards for its performance in the media space and currently has over 100 staff.
