Report of the amir’s arrest  however  did not indicate to which arm of the security forces  he  was handed over.

After the  capture of Mubi by the terrorists, they appointed an amir who reportedly held court  in the  second largest town in the state. It was reportedly  a reign of terror while the occupation of Mubi and its environs lasted but they were liberated by  a civilan JTF,hunters and soldiers.

Reports said at least several  Boko Haram members were killed during the recapture of Mubi by C-JTF and hunters along with soldiers.

Also ,it was learnt that as a result of the recapture of Mubi many of the insurgents fled to Gombi and Hong local governments of the state where they tried to launch a reprisal attacks on the two communities which sparked another round of confrontation between local hunters and the insurgents.

Sources from Gombi and Hong local Government said the fleeing insurgents had  launched attacks in many places leading to death of about five persons in Hong Local Government as they destroyed the prison yard of Gombi local Government and set the inmates free while they burnt down a police station.

A resident of Gombi Local Government Mallam Gambo said the insurgents had a field day in the town because soldiers  and police had fled away on learning that the insurgents are about to strike at the town leaving the people to their fate.

Unconfirmed reports from the two areas later indicated that hunters have gained an upper hand in their offensive against the insurgents as they chased them out of the area.

However, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to Adamawa State Governor Mr. P P Elisha noted that Adamawa state Government was on top of the security situation adding that the governor is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that a lasting peace has been restored to the state.

“The Governor has held a security meeting with heads of security agencies in the state  this morning for a lasting solution to the insurgency bedeviling the state,” he said.

Elisha cautioned against the spread of rumor adding that contrary to insinuations that the insurgents are advancing towards Yola, the reverse was the case noting that the insurgents are being cornered.

He said when the insurgents were dispersed from Mubi, they made an attempt to escape out of Adamawa State through Garkida and adjoining routes but their efforts to escape were  frustrated as all roads leading out of the state had  been blocked which made them to return to Hong and Gombi local governments.

Elisha added that the state government has fully mobilized all security outfits in conjunction with the local hunters and Civilian JTF to provide a water tight security in the state assuring residents that the issue of insurgency will soon be a thing of the past in the state.
