Some of the Chibok Schoolgirls who escaped from Boko Haram captivity were received at #BringBackOurGirls rally at Unity Fountain in Abuja on Day 90 after the kidnap.Dr Oby Ezekwesiline one of the leaders of the campaign announced that the girls present at the rally were among those who escaped from captivity on their own.
Ezekwesili also said the Chibok girls who escaped had interacted on Sunday with Malala Yousafzai- the Pakistani schoolgirl who survived terrorist attack too.Malala arrived Abuja to boost the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.
The former minister of education gave an insight into what transpired as some of the Chibok girls interacted with Malala in Abuja.
According to her,”as they interacted with a young woman, prodigously talented,Malala..And one of them(Chibok girls) was speaking, that’s when I couldn’t hold it together, for she(Chibok girl) said’I no longer want to go and visit my friend’s mother because my friend’d mother says to me,why didn’t you just hold my daughter when you were running off?’She escaped but she is still imprisoned because of the feeling of guilt that she could have saved her friend”
When they were asked what request they had to make, the girls reportedly told Malala:”We need a successful rescue of our friends”.They more concerned about their friends than themselves.
Malala as she is fondly called is expected to deliver an address on Monday afternoon in Abuja.
