Chadian President Idriss Deby has called on wanted leader of Boko Haram terrorist sect ,Abubakar Shekau to surrender now or face death,Reuters has reported.
The Chadian President made this call during a news conference on Wednesday .”Abubakar Shekau must surrender. We know where he is. If he doesn’t give himself up he will suffer the same fate as his compatriots,” the President Deby said.
Speaking further, the Chadian President said,”He(Shekau) was in Dikwa two days ago. He managed to get away but we know where he is. It’s in his interests to surrender”
Chad, Cameroon and Niger are part of the sub-regional Multi-National Joint Task Force ,MNJTF raised to tackle the menace of Shekau led terrorism that has killed thousands and displaced over a million Nigerians.
Nigeria’s Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice,Mohammed Adoke told the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva Switzerland this week that Boko haram has displaced over 1,650,000 Nigerians.
What began as a Nigerian terror group has gradually become a regional menace with attacks launched by the terrorists in Cameroun,Chad and Niger.
Chad recaptured Dikwa from the sect recently .Nigerian troops have also recovered over 30 towns from the terrorists in the country’s north east.
