President Muhammadu Buhari has for the third failed to attend Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council Meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
It was a shocking twist as the FEC meeting came a day after President Buhari’s wife, Aisha had said on her twitter handle that her husband’s health was not as bad as being perceived. She also disclosed that Buhari would meet with the GMD NNPC and AGF Tuesday evening. That was quickly interpreted to mean the president had regained enough strength to resume work.
But it all now seems like part of the growing intrigues over Buhari’s health.Even before Aisha’s tweets, Newsdiaryonline had leaned that several governors had stormed Abuja. It was said they were summoned to meet with the President. It was also learned some of the governors failed to rush to Abuja as directed.
An aide to one of the governors who refused to come to Abuja said, ”The suspicion is that the cabal intrigues has heightened.“
The tweets by Aisha may have been meant to assuage fears that Buhari’s health had worsened.More efforts have been stepped up to convince Nigerians that the president remains up to the task, Newsdiaryonline has observed .
The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu recently assured Nigerians in a statement that the President has not abdicated his role as the country’s commander in chief .
