Mr Victor Kirika, National Rescue Movement Party (NRMP) governorship candidate in Rivers has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a credible, free and fair election to sustain peace in the country.

Kirika made the call on Thursday while addressing some journalist at the Asaba Airport in Delta.

He stressed the need for credible, free and fair election in the state to ensure peace and stability in the volatile state.

He said that given free and level playing ground, he would defeat the incumbent People Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress candidates in the state in the 2019 governorship election.

He said that he had the support of youths and the women in Ogoni and other communities to run as governor, to bring the needed change in the state.

According to the governorship candidate, there was no truth in some belief in certain quarters that if somebody is not a member of PDP or APC that he or she would not win election.

Kirika stressed the need to try young people with new ideas and ability to turn around the economy of the country and not to continue to recycle the same set of persons in government.

“I am 37 years old; hail from Sime in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers.

“My ambition was to contest for House of Representative position but my people perceived that I have what it takes to run as governor.

He emphasised the need for the votes of the people to count during elections to avoid youth restiveness. With reports by NAN
