NAF deploys additional personnel to Niger Delta

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique  Abubakar, on Friday disclosed that additional personnel had been deployed to Bayelsa to enhance security of lives and property in the Niger-Delta region.

Abubakar, who disclosed this during his official working visit to the Bayelsa Mobility Command in Yenagoa, said it was part of the resolve of the NAF to combat militancy and other forms of security challenges in the region.

The Chief of Air Staff also paid courtesy visit to the Gov. Seriake Dickson at the Government house as part of his official working visit to the state.

He told Dickson that plans were also underway to add more officers to the already deployed Special Forces in the state to safeguard the communities in the region.

Abubakar said that the deployment was necessary to tackle security challenges not only in Bayelsa, Niger-Delta, but the entire country.

“We have recently deployed Special Forces to Bayelsa and we intend to do more as soon as we are able to resolve the issues of accommodation.

“We are working hard to reposition the force because we need an Air Force that has the right to structured, right to manpower disposition.

“An Air Force that has the right capability to be able to deal with challenges of 21st century,” Abubakar, said.

On facilities at Mobility Command, Abubakar commended the Bayelsa government and the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Air Vice-Marshal Napoleon Bali on their good work.

The Air Force Chief inaugurated the renovated Mobility Command Headquarters and Officers’ Mess in Bayelsa and urged Officers to be more dedicated toward achieving a professional and disciplined force.

“I urge the personnel to continue to work hard and ensure that every community and Nigerians are secured; make sure that the citizens go about their business without and fear or molestation.

“NAF is ready to partner with Bayelsa Government and security agencies in the state for more quality service delivery.“

Dickson, who pledged more support to the activities of NAF said, the state government was ready to partner with security agencies to ensure a well secured environment.

“I commend all the uniform men for the peace and tranquillity we have been enjoying in the state and Niger-Delta region due to their continue sacrifices.

“On the side of Air Force, we will partner with them because I have seen that NAF has the manpower for quality service.“ (NAN)
