The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) has been named the Africa Infrastructure Regulator of the Year.

The Acting Director-General, ICRC, Mr Chidi Izuwah, said this in a statement issued by the Acting Head of Media and Publicity of the Commission, Manji Yarling on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to Izuwah, the Commission emerged winner from a shortlist of 10 regulatory agencies across the African continent.

He said the commission was commended for the massive world class accomplishments that had happened in the Nigerian Infrastructure and PPP space in the last 12 months.

Izuwah listed some of the achievements of ICRC to include the first organisation in the world to launch a Public Private Partnership Disclosure Web Portal, inaugurated in Sept. 2017.

Others are, the accelerated delivery and regulatory process for PPP projects in Nigeria and major Farm Mechanisation PPP for agricultural transformation.

He said the Abuja -Kaduna-Kano segment of the Trans Saharan Pipeline Project and many other PPP projects on the very active Nigeria PPP pipeline were also listed.

Responding to the award, Izuwah expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari, for his untiring support to the commission.

The ICRC boss also expressed delight at the award, stressing that it was an added impetus for sustained service delivery in Nigeria’s infrastructure and PPP space.

“Today’s award is a testament that the world is watching developments in Nigeria.

“With diligent implementation of the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan (NIIMP), and the recent establishment of the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF), Nigeria’s infrastructure space is set to witness a massive turnaround.’’

The ICRC won the award at the just concluded African Infrastructure (Ai) Investment Awards ceremony and Ai/Africa 50 CEO Infrastructure Project Developers Summit held in Le Morne, Mauritius.
