Adamawa Chapter of Social Democratic Party (SDP), has nullified the suspension of one of its gubernatorial aspirant, Chief Emmanuel Bello.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bello was suspended by the state party chairman, Mr Ibrahim Bebeto, two weeks ago.
Bebeto was later suspended by National Working Committee of the party.
Announcing the nullification of Bello’s suspension at a press briefing on Tuesday in Yola, the Acting chairman of the party, Mr Danjuma Chikale, said that the suspension of Bello did not follow due process.
“Accordingly, I hereby nullify the purported suspension of Chief Emmanuel Bello because due process was not followed in line with Article 20 of the party’s constitution, ” said Chikale.
“I have already written to the Adamawa State Police Command, the DSS, and INEC on the suspension of the party chairman, Mr Ibrahim Bebeto in accordance with laid down procedures,” he said.
The acting chairman, who called for the support of members to move the party forward, said that the national headquarters of the party had initiated an integration programme.
He said the programme was aimed at harmonizing all interests in view of the latest trooping into the party by people, adding that Maj-Gen John Zaruwa (Rtd) had been appointed Adamawa State Convener of the party. (NAN)
