Kehinde Laniyan, District Officer of the Little League District 01, has said that Excellers Little League Baseball Club of Ibadan would represent the country at the forth coming Europe and Africa Tournaments.
Laniyan said on Thursday in Lagos that the regional tournament would hold from July 12 to July 17 in Kutno, Poland.
He said that the club was nominated to represent the country having won the district competition held from April 6 to April 10 in Ibadan.
“This year, Excellers will represent Nigeria at the annual little league regional event coming up later in the year due to their excellent performance at the district tournament which ended recently.
“They defeated teams from Ibadan and other states at the event we held for players within the age of nine to12 years,’’ he said.
Laniyan said their success in the forthcoming event would enable the players to qualify and participate in the next stage of the tournament that would hold from July 18 to July 28.
He added that countries that qualify from the next stage would play in the World Series slated for Pennsylvania in the U.S.
Laniyan, who is also the Secretary of the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association, appealed to corporate organisations and Nigerians to support the club in its quest to bring glory to the country. (NAN)
