Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has re-stated his confidence in the Judiciary as the defender of justice in the country.
Speaking to newsmen in Benin City, on the dismissal of the petition of the defeated candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Oshiomhole said, “the courts are not places you go for frivolous reasons and for somebody to have suggested that I did not attend a primary or modern schools is absurd”.
“If I wanted to forge certificates would I forge a primary school certificate or a modern school certificate? The man who is challenging my qualification went to National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS in 2008. I went to NIPSS in 1987, which is twenty one years before he got there. The mark I made at NIPSS is higher than what he got,” he noted.
According to him, “the good news is that the judges know the law and they would apply the law. The tribunal has done its part, we are satisfied with the ruling and we expect the entire petition to be struck out.”
Oshiomhole said the whole idea was to give the wrong impression to the public, adding that Edo people have spoken out loud and clear.
“I believe the Judiciary recognizes that they occupy unique place in our democracy and we can continue to trust them to adjudicate on issues without fear or favour and that is what the panel has done”, he added.
