Niger Commissioner of Police, Mr Dibal Yakadi, on Monday said the command would not tolerate any act capable of disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
Yakadi, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) in Minna, warned the residents, especially the youth, to desist from any form of political violence and thuggery in the state.
The police commissioner charged the youth not to allow themselves to be used as agent of destruction, as anyone found wanting would be made to face the wrath of the law.
He said the command had already taken proactive security measures to deal with any form of security threat to peace in the state.
Yakadi said the command would continue to utilise the avenues of intelligence-led and community-based policing in enhancing a peaceful atmosphere.
The police commissioner solicited the support of residents, urging them to provide useful information on suspicious movement of people.
He said this would assist security officials to apprehend criminals at the planning stage of their activities.
Yakadi urged officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best, as hardworking ones would be rewarded, while indolent personnel would be sanctioned accordingly. (NAN)
