The All Progressives Congress,APC ,Adamawa state chapter and stakeholders of the party have reacted to a purported press conference held last week by a group claiming to be Elders of the party in the North East protesting against the appointment of Comrade Mustapha Salihu as Acting National Vice Chairman of the Zone(North-East).
Chairman of the party,Mr. Ibrahim Bilal communicated the official position of the party and stakeholders at a press briefing in Yola Monday, stressing that all the Governors of the North East States under the platform of the party(APC) and their party executives endorsed the appointment of comrade Mustapha Salihu in acting capacity before proper election in the forthcoming convention of the party.
Bilal said the endorsement of Comrade Salihu, as the new acting vice chairman North -East of the party by the national secretariat of the party was an expression of confidence in the ability of the acting new vice chairman.
He added that his experience in the party is aimed at fostering the ambition and vision of the party.
The Party leadership in the state lauded the resilience of Gov.Jibrilla Bindow which brought the endorsement of Salihu as the new acting Vice Chairman North-East.
“We … are solidly behind the appointment of Comrade Mustapha Salihu as the acting North-East vice chairman of APC.
“We believe in his capabilities of steering and impacting positive change in the party and fostering the vision and mission of the party”.Bilal explained.
It could be recalled that the protesters in their meeting with the media accused those behind the appointment of trying to make the party a personal estate claiming that Comrade Salihu is a related to suspended Secretary to federal Government,Engineer David Lawan Babachir who was the former occupant of the seat .Comrade MustaphaSalihu, hails from Hildi in Hong local government area and he is believed to be a close associate of the suspended Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal.
