It was a day  of  yet  another round of  explosions as two  suicide bombers struck  in Maiduguri blowing  themselves  up on Wednesday. The explosions occurred even as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo paid a surprise visit to the embattled city from Abuja.

Quoting  a military source, Reuters said “the blasts injured two people and happened at about 11.30 a.m. (1030 GMT) near the gates of a hospital where suicide bombers killed three people and injured 16 last Saturday

“The second blast occurred two minutes after the first one, killed the bomber and injured two other people nearby,” Mohammed Haruna  who assisted some of the victims told Reuters.

News of the vice president’s surprise visits had made round earlier in the day and  many observers were impressed by the development.

The explosions  occurred far away  from the   IDP camp  where the VP  visited .

Maiduguri  is the epicenter of Boko Haram  insurgency.President  Muhammadu Buhari’s first official pronouncement during his inauguration on May 29 was to order the relocation of the military command centre in the battle against the terrorists from Abuja to Maiduguri.

The order is already being complied with, the military has  said.
