‘Cooperative Society ,Indispensable component of our socio-economic lives’-FUTA Vice Chancellor

FUTA Cooperative  society“Cooperative Societies have become an indispensable component of the socio-economic lives of Nigerians and as such its operators must demonstrate utmost good faith in their conduct and operations.”  The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Professor Adebiyi Daramola stated this in his keynote address at the 2015 Ordinary Meeting of FUTA Cooperative Multipurpose Society Limited.  Professor Daramola enjoined all entrusted with managing the affairs of the outfit to demonstrate utmost commitment, fairness, prudence and sense of responsibility in discharging their duties.

Daramola represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Development), Professor Tolulope Akinbogun appreciated the executives for their transparency, truthfulness and openness and strategies at solving different bottlenecks experienced by members at different times.

Earlier in his report, the President of the society, Mr.  Samuel Ayodele rolled out some of the achievements of his administration that took office about eight (8) months ago. The achievements include the payments of dividends to members through e-payment, prompt disbursement of loans within 24hours of approval, reduction in special purchase and emergency loans interest rate from 15% to 12%, purchase of one Toyota Hiace Bus among other achievements. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his love and support for the society. Mr. Omololu who further sought the cooperation of members urged them to continue to contribute their quota for the betterment of the society.

In a related development Society   donated a unit of HP Desktop Computer to Salary & Wages Unit of the University Bursary Department. Making the presentation to the Bursar, Mr. Ademola Oresegun the President, Mr. Ayodele Samuel said the gesture was part of the Society’s Corporate Social Responsibility and in appreciation of the support the Society has enjoyed from   the University Management.

In his remark, the Vice-Chancellor described the donation as a laudable gesture saying FUTACOOP has set the pace and shown the other cooperative societies on campus how to be a good corporate citizen of FUTA.  Professor Daramola also expressed the gratitude of management to the society.
