The Sokoto/ Zamfara/Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Monday destroyed contraband goods, including frozen fish and chicken, which customs duties with duty value is assessed at N875,317.00.
Seized on May 5th 2015 by officers and men of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) of Zone B, along Kangiwa – Makera road in Kebbi state, the destruction of the goods was supervised by the Comptroller of the Command, Alhaji Ahmed Isyaku with the collaboration of the National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Isyaku advised smugglers to engage in legitimate businesses in order to avoid making loses that accompany illegitimate business whenever the law catches up with perpetrators.
He assured that his officers and men would continue to monitor the activities of illegal tradesmen. “We will continue to work diligently to ensure that no contraband was smuggled into Nigeria.”
