Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto state has accused the National Security Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Col. Sambo Dasuki of sending threatening messages to him over some comments the governor made over the radio on the police’s invasion of the National Assembly in Abuja.
He made the accusation during an APC stakeholders’ meeting in which the Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, other governorship aspirants and party stakeholders were present.
Describing the police action as the highest level of impunity, governor Wamakko assured that there was no amount of threat from anywhere that would make him withdraw his comments over the ways the presidency was using the police against the office of the Speaker, House of Representatives.
He maintained that the action was capable of denting the image and integrity of the country globally, adding that the police was supposed to protect democracy and be not be used in sabotaging it.
In the radio comments, Wamakko had said that in a normal society, the National Security Adviser and the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba were supposed to have resigned from their appointments because they have failed Nigerians as a result of the action.
“This is what I said in an aired interview by a foreign medium and shortly afterwards, I received a text message from Col Sambo Dasuki that, ’till I hear from him.
“But let me assure you that nothing will happen. It is just an empty threat. We are not afraid of anybody because we have Allah by our side and with Him we are assured of Allah’s protection,” Wamakko retorted angrily.
