The House of Representatives has passed, for second reading, the Bill seeking to establish the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Okota, Isolo, Lagos State.
The passage of the bill is to provide courses in entrepreneurial, innovative and development studies for the inhabitants of Okota and Isolo, in Lagos State, and its environs and for Nigerians in general.
Sponsor of the bill, Rep. Ganiyu Johnson (APC-Lagos), at the plenary in Abuja on Wednesday, said the bill, when passed into law, would facilitate the development of skill in entrepreneurship, innovation and related fields.
He further said the bill would go a long way in tackling the hydra-headed issue of unemployment in Nigeria as students of the institute would be trained to utilize their hands in creating employment for themselves.
To this end, the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, ruled in favour of the bill without debate and referred it to the relevant committee for further legislative input. (NAN)
