While the strike rages on, and the doctors and the Lagos state government have been unable to settle the dispute, majority of patients in Lagos state have been denied access to medical services with dire consequences for the health delivery system in the state. We believe that the crisis can still be apprehended if all parties in the dispute are willing to embrace dialogue and consider the interests of the people in Lagos state as well as respect relevant national labour laws and conventions of the International Labour Organisation.  We commend the intervention of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA, and several organisations, as well as well meaning Nigerians to mediate in the crisis and find a solution to the impasse. In line with the determination to break the deadlock in talks between both parties, contact has been established between the Congress President and the Lagos state governor, who has assured of the willingness to accept the intervention of the labour movement in resolving the stalemate in dialogue.
