MAJ GEN CHRIS OLUKOLADE1.jpg 3TAs Muslims observe the Period of Ramadan Fasting, the Forum of spokespersons in Security and Response Agencies (FOSSRA) has urged Nigerians to be more security conscious in view of the prevailing challenges confronting the nation by the antics of undesirable criminal elements and radical militants.
They pointed that some disasters could be avoided through basic precautionary measures as well as timely information to security agencies.
The forum made the call at the end of monthly meeting in June 2014 which was held at the Nigeria Air Force Headquarters, Abuja
he meeting which was chaired by Director Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, noted that the current security challenges bedeviling the nation should not be perceived as a challenge that should be tackled by security forces alone but should be a collective efforts where the citizens are conscious of their responsibilities in providing timely and useful information on suspicious movements of individuals or groups and strange objects to relevant security agencies.
The forum also seek the supports and cooperation of the media in addressing such challenges through responsible reporting that could motivate security personnel to put in their best rather than demoralizing their morale especially in the ongoing war on terrorism
They pointed out that whereas some actions of security agencies are occasionally being misunderstood they are done with the best of intentions towards maintaining laws and order as well as securing lives and property of every citizen.
The forum also extended its condolence to the Telegraph Newspaper over the death of one of their editors during the EMAB Plaza bomb blast in Abuja as well as the families of those who lost their beloved ones in the cowardly act.
Chairman of the forum, General Chris Olukolade also appealed to politicians to desist from inflammable utterances that could breach peace-coexistence in the country.
