Ahead of the state congress slated for tomorrow(Saturday) , Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kaduna State and one of the 10 aspirants, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has withdrawn his candidature and endorsed Mr. Mataimaki Tom Maiyashi for the position.
Baba-Ahmed said, his decision to withdraw was informed by the need to improve the chances of the party to succeed and prevent it from being hijacked by interests that will destroy all progress already made.
The IMC Chairman disclosed this while addressing newsmen alongside his anointed candidate in Kaduna . According to him, “I have been involved in extensive consultations with many stakeholders over the future of our party. I have identified a major concern that the leadership of our party should be in the hands of leaders who will not sell our party to our opposition, or use it only to pursue interests of individuals who nurse gubernatorial ambitions or seeking unfair advantages to retain seats.
“I consider it a major responsibility to advise our members on the choice of who leads our party with competence and integrity. I am convinced that of all the remaining contestants for the state Chairmanship of the party, Mr Mataimaki Tom Maiyashi is most qualified. He is a consummate politician with records of loyalty to principles which are dear to our party.
“He also has personal integrity and qualities which will build and sustain bridges among and between faiths and ethnic groups in our party. I therefore fully endorse him as the best candidate for the state Chairman, and I appeal to our supporter s and delegates at the congress to vote for him, our party will be safe in his hands” ,he stressed.
