Yuletide: Nigeria Hotel Association assures on safety in hotels

The Nigeria Hotel Association (NHA) on Friday assured Nigerians of safety at hotels in the nation, with security outfits of the facilities upscaled.


Eze Patrick Anyanwu, National President, NHA, gave the assurance during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.


Anyanwu urged Nigerians not to lose confidence in hotels as a means of accomodating visitors due to recent happenings in the nation.


He said that to guide against any form of mishap, the association had sensitised its members on the neccesssary safety  measures to adopt.


According to him, hotels had engaged the services of security experts who would rigorously check intending visitors before being given accommodation.


” We hoteliers will be vigilant and observant to scrutinise those to be accommodated, we will work hand in hand with our security men.


” Some hotels that can afford police dogs have them on ground, likewise the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras are in place to monitor activities and ensure that any fraudulent activity is promptly reported.


” We are fully prepared to accommodate visitors this Yuletide season,” he said.


Anyanwu urged the Federal Government to give hotels some bail-out funds to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic.


He said government should not forget the huge role played by hoteliers in the tourism value chain as they continue to accommodate visitors from all over the world.


He noted that hoteliers should be assisted not only to remain in business but to also improve the quality of services rendered to the local and International tourists.


” Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, hotels have suffered serious setback and up till now a lot of our members have not been able to operate well.


” Hoteliers need this bail-out fund to help us cushion the effect of the pandemic on our businesses.


” But against all odds, we are ready to accommodate visitors from across the world, our security outfit has been improved on,” he said. (NAN)
