A media enthusiastic and a researcher, Is’haq Modibbo Kawu has urged the government at all levels to revive the combination of sports and education in the country.

Mr Modibbo, a former DG, NBC, who belongs to the generation that was nurtured within the schools sports tradition said the combination would enable the younger generation to burn their energy positively.

Modibbo, who is also the chairman of Abuja- based media out-fit, Word, Sound and Vision (WSV) stated this Saturday in Illorin at the launch of a book on the development of football in Kwara state written by coach Isa Salman.

“I’m very delighted to be invited to this very auspicious event today. The launch of a book on the development of football in Kwara State, by Coach Isa Salman, is a very important event for so many reasons.”

“It’s such a remarkable thing that Coach Isa Salman has taken time to write on the development of football in Kwara State. It’s always important to write, in order to document history; to assist coming generations to know, and be inspired.”

” I remember Coach Isa Salman as a young player. And he belongs to the generation, that was nurtured, within the schools sports tradition, in our state and country. We’ve lost that tradition today. But it’s something we must do everything to revive: the combination of education with sports, to give the young, the opportunity to burn their energy, positively; learn a competitive spirit and fair play, associated with sports, as well as find a way to be responsible, from very early. I think the first time I saw him play, must have been at the GTTS ground. His left leg packed a shot!” Mr. Modibbo said.

Mr. Modibbo also encouraged other sporting heroes and heroines in the country to tell their stories, to enable people to learn; to keep memory, and to inspire the younger generation.

The media enthusiast also showered praises on sporting heroes of his generation who made their contributions to Kwara state and Nigeria at large.

The veteran journalist equally showered accolades on the author of the book and also hoped that the hard work of coach Isa would inspire the younger generation to make their own impacts.

“We must thank Coach Isa Salman for his labour of love. Thanks for recording the history of football development in our beautiful Kwara State. I hope your book would inspire the younger generation to make their own contributions to football and other sports, in our state, and our dear country, Nigeria. Thank you for your attention,” he said.
