Christmas: Police, NSCDC ready to provide security in Niger

The Police Command in Niger says it is ready to provide security to ensure peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations in the State.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Adamu Usman, who stated this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Tuesday, said the police personnel would provide the needed security before, during and after the festivities.

Usman said that the command had put in place security measures that would enable residents of the state to celebrate the two festivals without threats to their lives and property.

 

 

 

 

 

 

He said that the command was working with other security agencies in the state to ensure crisis-free festivities.

He said an effective operational order on how to provide security in each of the 25 local government areas in the state had been issued to the Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers for implementation.

” We have mobilised sufficient armed personnel to provide security at Churches, recreation centres,motor parks before, during and after the festivities,” the commissioner said.

”  I am giving 100 per cent assurance to all law-abiding residents of the state that they can go about freely to celebrate the festivities without threat to lives and property,” he said.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Similarly, the state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it had deployed 1255  personnel to provide security during the Christmas and New Year festivities in the state.

ASCI Nasiru Abdullahi,Public Relations Officer of the command, disclosed this to NAN in Minna on Tuesday.

” We have put in place various security methods to enable residents to have the opportunity to participate in all the activities lined up for the celebrations in a peaceful atmosphere.

 

 

 

 

 

 

” We will not tolerate any acts capable of bringing confusion before, during and after the festivities ,as  any person or groups found disobeying orders would be arrested and prosecuted,”Abdullahi warned.

He urged the Christian faithful to use the holy period to pray for peace,progress and stability in the country.( NAN)
