Dame Patience Not In Land Tussle With Hajia Turai!
The attention of the Office of the First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria has been drawn to recent newspaper publications, insinuating that a judgment is about to be delivered in a case purportedly between the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan and former First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’ Adua, over a land matter.
The story about the land in question has been told several times through press releases to the media, and press interviews by officials of government involved in the land matter.
However, in spite of all the explanations via these channels, mischievous individuals have continued to falsify records on the matter and mislead members of the public that the land matter is between Dame Patience Jonathan and Hajia Turai Yar’ Adua.
In an advertorial released by the Office of the First Lady titled “So-called ‘Land Tussle:’ Facts of the Matter” published in the Leadership and Thisday newspapers of Wednesday, August 1, 2012, we had said:
“As far as this office is concerned, it is perceptibly mischievous to attempt to create the impression that this development is the fruit of personal animosity between the First Lady and her predecessor, Her Excellency, Hajia Turai Umaru Yar’adua.
This is on the premise that the INDIVIDUALITY of Dame Jonathan is not in any manner involved in the land tussle. Rather, it is a case of the FCT Administration trying to rectify an anomaly it observed in the right to the ownership of a plot of land in the institutional zone of the Central Business District (CBD) of Abuja”.
To this extent, we wish to REPEAT as follows:
That the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan is not in any dispute whatsoever with Hajia Turai Yar’adua;
That the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, is not even joined in the said suit before the court;
That the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) is also not joined in the suit over the land in question;
That the case before the court is between Hajia Turai Yar’adua’s NGO (WAYEF) and the FCT administration, hence it is erroneous for anyone to insinuate dispute between Dame Patience Jonathan and Hajia Turai Yar’adua over the land matter; and
That the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan does not wish to be dragged into the matter.
It is our hope that the matter will henceforth be kept within accurate perspectives, for purposes of sustaining the TRUTH and PUBLIC RECORD.
