The former Governor of Ogun State , Otunba Gbenga Daniel has described the victory of the Super Eagles in the 2013 African Cup of Nations as a soothing balm that should further engender sense of patriotism and unity among Nigerians. He also said the Eagles have raised the bar of performance expected from Nigerian sports men and women.
He said Stephen Keshi and the players deserve commendation for showing the rest of Africa the indomitable Nigerian spirit and the abundant talents that abound in Africa’s most populous nation.
“Stephen Keshi and his boys gave their very best and were able to outclassed all the opponents that came their way and deservedly won Africa most important football competition. I congratulate the super Eagles and also felicitate with President Goodluck Jonathan for this remarkable feat achieved under his watch as the Leader of our country. I also congratulate the generality of Nigerians for being part of this success”he said .
Daniels advised that, “Our sports administrator should use this victory as a fillip to reenergise the sports sector for better performance in future competitions. The Super Eagles have raised the bar of performance expected from our Sports men and women and we can no longer afford to perform below this bar at continental and global competitions.”
Otunba Daniel also enjoined Nigerians to use the victory to foster love, Peace and unity in the Country
