Keeping to his pledge of making the people of his senatorial district happy, Lawal Adamu Usman, (Mr LA) on Tuesday put smiles on the faces of many of his campaign team members with gifts of exotic cars and tickets to perform the Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
Giving out the gifts on behalf of Mr LA through LA Care Foundation, his campaign DG, Ibrahim Ali disclosed that the gesture was the first batch of a 24-phased support programme for his supporters and the entire people of Kaduna state.
Beneficiaries of the car gifts included Mohammed Yakubu Mumzee, Bala Tela and Hajiya Aisha Galadima.
Those billed for the Lesser Hajj were Alhaji Shehu Giant – PDP Zonal Chairman Kaduna State, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali – (Mr La) DG Campaign, Alhaji Kabiru – Kaduna South, Hajia Binta Abakwa, Yaron kirki kajuru and Shamsu Musa.
Others are, Ibrahim Sarki, Ibrahim Wusono – PDP Secretary Kaduna State, Maikudi Tela – Chikun Local Government.
Responding to the gesture, Mohammed Yakubu extended the gratitude of his family and the entire people Kaduna South to Mr LA for “such a wonderful gift.
In her response, Aisha Galadima, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, described the gesture as the other side of Mr LA’s philanthropy which knows no political bounds.
Bala Tela, the youngest of the three beneficiaries, said Mr LA is indeed changing the entire political landscape of Kaduna state with his boundless philanthropy and abiding concern for people’s happiness.
Earlier, a statement by his media director, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman assured all supporters, friends and well wishers of Mr LA’s commitment to ensuring that the mandate given to him in February is reclaimed and restored.
The statement said while LA pursues the already initiated legal process for reclaiming the people’s mandate, he is at the same time committed to empowering the people through a new scheme branded the LA CARE PROGRAMME.
Mr LA, the statement said, is at the same time, moving to rebrand the politics of Kaduna state believing that the prevailing model is the one muddled, vague, and most times contradictory.
“LA believes that the current system is the old-time electoral politics with a slightly heightened shrill of progressive rhetoric; a politics based not on educating people but on mobilizing them, nor on creating an active public sphere, but on electing candidates.
“The operational system does not ensure that constituencies are informed, politically knowledgeable, and more capable of acting independently on their own in order to develop a creative, fluid, and truly popular politics.
“This type of politics is essentially counterproductive because people who are mobilized by charismatic leaders, centralized institutions, and power-oriented political structures remain masses, not independent- minded citizens.
“It is also dangerous because, while these types of politicians gradually become professionalized and guided by career interests rather than principles, the ordinary people become passive and inactive; institutions become bureaucratic and centralistic like in the case of Kaduna today,” the statement said.
