No Fire Outbreak at NIMASA-Spokesperson

The Nigerian Maritime and Safety  Agency ,NIMASA has  advised  stakeholders and the general public to disregard  recent information being circulated by those described as  faceless individuals suggesting that the Head office of the  Agency has been gutted by fire.

Hajia Lami Tumaka,head public relations of NIMSA said in a statement today that  actually the Agency had received a report of an explosion involving a tanker ship laden with petroleum products ,anchored at  the jetty of one of Nigeria’s petroleum marketing companies within Apapa business district

“The vibration effect of the explosion momentarily affected business activities in the Agency and other high rise buildings  within the Apapa business district” she said adding that “officers of the Agency were  drafted immediately  to join the fire control team of the petroleum marketer aand other agencies who were on hand to provide emergency services.”

Tumaka also revealed that “Preliminary investigations have commenced and more information on the explosion will be made public in due course.”

Categorically NIMASA said its “business offices at Burma;Marine Road,GRA;and Kirikiri situated in Apapa are not affected by the unfortunate fire outbreak”.
