After a careful review of the ongoing   end of the  year special patrol by the personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), especially during the recent Christmas celebration, the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi has expressed satisfaction with the high level of discipline, dedication and commitment shown by the staff and most road users with a call on them to sustain the zeal towards the new year operations.

According to Bisi Kazeem, Corps Public Education Officer ,  FRSC in a press statement, he stated this in his interim assessment of the Christmas patrol in which he gave kudos to the motoring public for keeping to the advice given by the Corps on obedience to traffic rules and regulations, saying everyone must remain on guard to achieve greater success in the continuing operations.

The Corps Marshal disclosed that from his personal assessment of the exercise as he visited several parts of the country and reports reaching him from the Field Commanders, there was high level of commitment, professionalism and devotion to duties by officers and marshals deployed for the assignment. He further noted that so far, the exercise has been a tremendous success and an improvement over previous year’s operations.

Oyeyemi also commended motorists for their improved attitudes to road usage and urged them to sustain the habit in the drive towards the new year and beyond. He expressed gratitude to the stakeholders including law enforcement agencies, transport unions and state governments where heavy traffic was anticipated for mobilising personnel and logistics towards crash and obstruction-free environment for all road users during the yuletide, stressing that such collaboration would be sustained beyond the celebrations.

“If the high level of discipline, commitment and orderliness we observed during the Christmas operations is sustained, we hope to achieve a better record this year,” the Corps Marshal stated.

It would be recalled that towards ensuring safer road environments during the yuletide season, FRSC launched special end of year operation codenamed, “Operation Zero Tolerance,” which involved massive deployment of personnel and logistics across the country from 18 December, 2018 till 15 January 2019.
