Rashidat Balogun, President, Nasrul-Lahil-l-Fath Society (NASFAT) Youth Wing, has advised youths against unhealthy lifestyles such as taking drugs which could result in untimely death and serious health challenges.
Balogun said this on Sunday at the opening ceremony of NASFAT Youth Week with the theme: ”Drug Abuse and Mental Health” in Lagos.
She said that the country would remain unsafe if Nigerian youths continued to indulge in drug abuse.
According to her ”the rally is to create awareness among the youths on the dangers of using drugs and other social vices.
”We want to warn them on the dangers of taking drugs, some of the youths who are not even up to 15 years have gone into committing crimes as a result of drugs.
”We are advising youths to desist from indulging themselves in using drugs as it will have adverse effects on them and their careers,” she said.
Jimoh Kayode, Cordinator of NASFAT Youth Wing, said that drug use had become an epidemic among the youths, especially the under aged children.
”Drugs have become so cheap that anybody can afford it, we need to create more awareness on the dangers of using drugs.
”A lot of people are lured into doing drugs without them knowing the dangers, we should help to check our wards, especially parents, because they are the future of tomorrow,” he said. (NAN)
