Institute gears up for Induction/Award ceremony in Abuja

Institute of Disaster Management and Safety Science (IDMSS), says it has concluded plans to hold its Induction and Award Ceremony on December 8, with the Theme titled “Disaster Management and National Security: A Responsibility to prepare.
Mr Ochagwuba Edwin, the Registrar of the Institute, made this known in an interview with the Newsmen in Abuja.
According to him, the Induction to hold at Nigerian Army Resource Center Asokoro, Abuja, is aimed at enlightening Nigerians on disaster risk reduction, security management, peace building and empowerment.
Edwin, maintained, that specialised education was required by Nigerians to effect meaningful improvement in the global response to disaster and management.
“Every year, thousands of people and property worth billions of Naira are affected by disaster, often receive aid after a long delay and suffering.
“We call on all Nigerians to be safety conscious by avoiding any form of carelessness both at home and the office for disaster risk reduction in the country,” he said.
Edwin further disclosed that the following people would be conferred Icon of excellence and professional Fellow Membership Award at the ceremony.
He said, they include; Vice Admiral (Rtd) Murtala Haman-Yero Nyako, CFR, GCON. Alhaji Abbas G. Idris, Director General, FCT Emergency Management Agency, Abuja. Alh Ahmed Muhammad Ketso, deputy Governor Niger State.
Also with, Air Commondor Akugbe Iyamu, Director Search and Rescue, National Emergency Management Agency, Dr Adeoye Emmanuel Adesoji, Deputy Commandant General, Nigerian Security, Civil Defence Corps, Abuja, and Hajiya Yabawa Kolo, First Female Icon of Excellence, Emergency Management Agency, Borno State.
