The 2015 Elections Tribunal in Sokoto state has so far received five petitions relating to governorship and National Assembly elections, Secretary of the Tribunal, Mrs. Uju Mesiobi-Emeto has disclosed.
She told Journalists in Sokoto on Monday that the petitions include one on governorship, one on senatorial and three on House of Representatives positions.
According to Mesiobi-Emeto, the governorship petition, which was filed by the Mega Progressives Peoples Party (MPPP) is against the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressive Congress (APC); Governor-elect, Aminu Tambuwal and his Deputy, Ahmed Aliyu.
The party also filed the senatorial election petition against INEC, APC and the Senator-elect for sokoto central senatorial zone and Governor Aliyu Wamakko.
While PDP’s Bello Yahaya Wurno filed the House of Representative petition for Wurno/Rabah federal constituency against APC’s Kabir Achida who was declared winner, also, PDP’s Aminu Abubakar filed the petition for Tambuwal/Kebbe federal constituency against APC’s Abdussamad Dasuki who was declared winner.
The third petition was filed by PDP’s Umar Bature for Sokoto North/ Sokoto South federal constituency against APC’s Bala Hassan who was declared winner.
Mesiobi-Emeto said that the 3-member Tribunal would be inaugurated on Wednesday, June 6.
