The Zamfara State Assembly has on Wednesday set up 7-man Committee to facilitate its legislative engagement with YIAGA Africa.
The assembly is partnering with YIAGA Africa Centre for Legislative Engagement, an NGO, to enhance legislative activities in the state.
The Speaker of the house, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya while inaugurating the committee said the Sixth assembly since its inauguration embarked on developing of agenda that would serve as a working document for the legislature in the state.
According to Magarya, the committee is one of the commitments of the house under my watch to ensure effective legislation in the state.
The members of the committee are Alhaji Nasiru Bello (Bungudu West) as Chairman, The deputy Speaker of the house, Alhaji Bawa Musa as Vice Chairman and Zahradeen M-Sada (Kaura-Namoda North) as member.
Other members are Aminu Jangebe, (Talata-Mafara South); Salihu Hamza, Director Budget, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning; the House Deputy Clerk, Mahmuda Aliyu to serve as the Secretary, while the House Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Jafaru-Kaura is the assistant Secretary of the Committee.
He charged the members of the committee to work up to expectation
He said the assembly had last week ordered for the review of the house standing rules to suite the modern challenges.
Magarya said that this is part of the efforts to revalidate house financial authority bill to meet the November deadline set aside by the Speaker’s Conference forum.
“Let me assure the YIAGA Africa that the present crop of young legislatures in the state is ever ready to work in synergy with you to achieve all the desirable goals.
“The Sixth assembly under my leadership is ever ready to work with non-governmental organisations to bring rapid socio economic development to the state,” he said.
