We will police waterfront, other parts of the zone –AIG Oyebade

#TrackNigeria – As part of proactive approach to combat heinous crimes through the waterways, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone XI, Osogbo, Adeleye Oyebade, mni, visited the Marine Police, Operation Base, Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State today.

The visit was in continuation of his familiarisation tour of Ondo State Police Command. The purpose of the visit to the riverine area was to assess the facilities at the Marine Base, and put in place adequate security arrangements necessary to combat heinous crimes in the area as well as other parts of the Zone which comprises Ondo, Osun and Oyo States. The visit was also informed by Intelligence reports that criminals after committing crimes in the mainland, often use the waterways as escape routes. In order to strengthen Interagency synergy, the police boss also paid a similar visit to the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Igbokoda where he was warmly received by Navy Commander Mustapha Umar who stood in for the Commander of the Naval Base.

The AIG promised to collaborate with his counterparts in other Zones having similar challenges so as to effectively police the waterfront using the Marine Department of the Nigeria Police Force.

Earlier during his familiarization tour, the AIG had a lecture with officers and men of the Ondo State Police Command, and charged them to continue to fight crimes in the state with undying spirit, and renewed commitment, while appreciating modest achievements so  far recorded.

Shortly afterwards, the AIG had another interactive session with critical stakeholders at the Officers’ Mess where he emphasized public partnership as an indispensable part of community policing. AIG Oyebade also same day, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of the State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu who was represented by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Barr Agboola Ajayi.
