Thousands of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters on Monday besieged Sokoto for the launch of the North-West zonal campaign of the Presidential Candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.
Abubakar, who was scheduled to arrive Sokoto for the rally at noon, arrived Shehu Kangiwa Square, the venue of the event at 2 p.m in company of party stalwarts.
Among those who attended the campaign launch included former President, Gooluck Jonathan; former vice president, Namadi Sambo; Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Board of Trustees chairman, Walid Jibrin; PDP National chairman, Uche Secondus; candidates of the party from the seven states in the North-West comprising Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano and Kaduna.
Abubakar is expected to inaugurate his zonal campaign office in Sokoto during the event. (NAN)
