The Nigerien President, Mohamed Bazoum, has honoured the Governor of Kebbi, Abubakar Bagudu, with the national Award of Excellence, one of the country’s highest national award.
It was held during a colourful ceremony in Niamey, Niger Republic.
Special Adviser, Media to the governor, Mr Yahaya Sarki, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Monday.
Sarki said that Bagudu was decorated and presented with the prestigious award by President Bazoum in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the socio-economic development of Nigeria and Niger Republic.
According to Sarki, the award was presented to Bagudu, who is also the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Progressives Governors’ Forum, in recognition to his promotion of sustainable peaceful coexistence between the two countries.
Earlier, President Bazoum also decorated and presented an award to the President of Guinea Bissau, Umaro Sissoco, alongside some distinguished personalities of his country for their individual roles in the development of Niger Republic.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Governors Abubakar Bello, Mai Mala Buni and Badaru Abubakar of Niger, Yobe and Jigawa states respectively, were also presented with the awards.
This is in recognition of their contributions to the promotion of bilateral ties between the two countries. (NAN)
