In spite of some glaring divisive tendencies in the Sokoto state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the state Deputy
Governor and governor aspirant of the party, Mukhtari Shehu Shagari today said that the party remains intact despite intimidation by the opposition.

He spoke in Sokoto during the formal inauguration of the state executives recently elected at its congress.

“We are working hard and praying fervently to Allah to actualise these signs of hope for us”, he said that nothing would deter it to compromise the wish and choice of the people.

Shagari added that the party’s political strength was overwhelming against all odds, which is a good omen for PDP in the state. “We are hopeful of celebrating victory come 2015.”

Believing in mutual contribution, team work and collective participation, he maintained that the intimidation of the opposition would continue unite them for victory. “All these odds are bound to come to an end someday when we will have won”, he declared.

He said that majority of people in the state were thrown into poverty, ignorance and lost. “This is the time for you to rise and vote out the current administration out of power.

“We are ready to commit our time, energy and the little personal resources we have to cleanse the rot affecting our people. We will strengthen avenues for proper empowerment, judiciously boost agriculture, give free medical services, restore morality and provide adequate infrastructure that will last the test of time and demand of our people”, he assured.

The state chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma thanked members for their political understanding, maturity and loyalty that led to his emergence.

He assured that they were ready to give their best for the success of the party which he said depended on the commitment and loyalty of all members.

” We will lead for equal participation and team work in the overall interest of the party and promise to carry everyone along in unity”, he assured.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Abdallah Wali who is also a frontline governorship aspirant in the state said that the party is more united and serious for the 2015 polls, adding that” we are more organised than ever this time around and we shall soon be flying the flag of victory”, he looked hopeful.

However, Wali donated 23 peugeot 406 brand vehicles for distribution one each to all party chairmen across the 23 local governments.
