A legal luminary , Ugochukwu Ezekiel, Esq. has express his “shock and total sadness” over the kidnap last Saturday in PortHarcourt of immediate past President of Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Okey Wali ,Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Barrister Ezekiel described the unfortunate development reflects” the sorry state of security in Nigeria and the fact that our security apparatus in Nigeria has nearly collapsed, if not fully comatose”
He said in his statement, “I read with shock and total sadness the report published in most Nigerian media of the kidnap of the immediate past President of Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Okey Wali (Senior Advocate of Nigeria). From the statement of the Nigerian Bar Association, the learned silk was kidnapped at about 9pm on Saturday, October 11, 2014, in Portharcourt, Rivers State.
“This again brings into fore the sorry state of security in Nigeria and the fact that our security apparatus in Nigeria has nearly collapsed, if not fully comatose.
According to the legal practitioner, “Mr. Wali is known to be a hardworking advocate selflessly committed to the development of the law and the society in general. It is a pity that such a fine gentleman could be a victim of such barbaric abduction.
“I use this medium to call upon security agencies to put all arsenals in motion towards securing his release in sound health to his family.
“I equally join other well meaning Nigerians to appeal to his abductors to immediately set him free unharmed and to Nigerians that need him even more,” the statement said.
