Education as a catalyst for promoting national peace and unity takes centre stage on Friday, 15th of October at the Federal Government College Okigwe Old Student’ Association (FEGOCOOKOSA) 2nd Biennial D M Ukpe Lecture series at the National Institute for International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos.
A press statement signed by National Publicity Secretary of FEGOCOOKOSA, Mazi Paul Ibe in Abuja on Wednesday said Guest Speaker, Prof. Mba Okoronkwo, Deputy Vice Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) lecture is entitled “Education: A key for promoting peace and unity in our nation.”
According to the statement, the lecture under the chairmanship of Ambassador Ademola Onafowokan, Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana will also feature Alumnus Speaker, Ambassador Obinna Adim, Special Adviser, Youth Empowerment (Presidency).
The statement disclosed that Nze Charles Anyiam-Osigwe, Executive Director, Anyaim-Osigwe is a guest lecturer at the event that will be moderated by Professor Mohammed Akanbi and Mrs Adaobi Obioha Alex-Oni.
Mazi Ibe announced that the 4th National Convention of FEGOCOOKOSA that will pool thousands from home and abroad will take place the next day at The Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Former Vice President and Grand Patron of the Association, Atiku Abubakar delivered the inaugural DM Ukpe Lecture series on November 17, 2012 in Okigwe, Imo State at which he also endowed N20 million to the alumni association.
The D M Ukpe Lecture series was instituted in honour of the founding Principal of Federal Government College Okigwe, Imo State.
