National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Comrade Mohammed Garba has said that there was no need for the National Assembly to impeach President Jonathan over what he knows nothing about.
Speaking to pressmen on the state of the Nation in Kaduna over the weekend, Garba said that there is so much tension in the country.
According to him, “tension is already very high, there was no need for the appending signatures for the impeachment of the President”.
The National President said that was also no need for political parties to declare a consensus candidate rather than for aspirants to be allow to go into primaries to enable the people make their choice.
He said that the three major challenges facing the country are politics, economy and the insecurity.
On politics, he said all is not well with Nigeria and advised that Nigeria should fight to sustain democracy.
According to him,” It is high time we (fought) to sustain this democracy, if we are truly interested in this country, it is time for the Executive and the Legislature to suspend the politicking and make plan to sustain this if we truly believe Nigeria should remain as one”.
On Economy, “ it is now very clear that our Economy is in trouble, in a situation whereby our youths cannot get employment, when there is no money in the country, a lot of things will go up, if the economy continues this way in the next three months, the country will face hardship and will lead to retrenchment already some states are owing their workers for over three months salaries.”
On security, he said victually all parts of the country are witnessing insecurity and called for urgent redress.
